Conclusion

For our project we observed dragonflies in different bodies of water around the Lincoln parks area of Chicago. We also collected specific dragonflies to add onto the Peggy NoteBaert Nature Museum.

The purpose of this study was to determine the ecological distribution of adult dragonflies population around the Lincoln park area.

Here is what we have interpreted from our graphs

As the humidity outside increases the total count of dragonflies  would then decrease.

  • As the temperature outside increases the total count of dragonflies will also increase.

  • Dragonfly activity slightly increases from 10:00 to 13:30

  • There is greater activity when the sky is partly cloudy and clear, than when the sky is Mostly cloudy and Overcast.

  • There is more dragonfly activity when their is a light breeze than when it’s windy.

Some of our uncertainties of our project were out collecting data out in the field in the morning than in the afternoon. We didn’t collect from 11:30-12:30 because we were having lunch.

As a group we learned how to easily identify different types of dragonflies. Additionally we learned how to properly hold a dragonfly.
